More to come later I just had to get this out first before I forget:
Currently Ella has two or three outfits she wears. Not that she has two or three outfits, but outfits that she will wear. Needless to say they are getting quite tattered and worn.
Clothes are just a battle I'm not willing to fight with her - other things, yes, what she wears - No. I've also decided we aren't picking out any more 'cute' clothes for her. She's got sensory issues, texture issues, fit issues - soooo not worth it. Much easier to let her spend 1/2 an hour in the fitting room than fight with something I think is adorable at home.
We are in the market for warm weather clothes - it is, hopefully ;), turning into summer soon and we are headed off to warmer weather for 'baycashun' pretty soon.
Decide to take the girls shopping so Ella can pick out some warmer weather clothes. Shorts, tees, capris, lighter weight dresses - I'm sure you get the idea. We're shopping, she's picked out a couple of things - mostly rejects what I offer her. This is actually good, there's a reason I brought her along and subjected myself to shopping with two girls. I'm also not buying clothes for Anna because that kid has so many clothes - why would she need new ones? Really.
Shopping. Looking. Browsing. I pick out these adorable pink capri pants with a little satin belt and a darling pink and white light weight spring sweater. "Mom, I'm not going to wear those capri pants." (whatever, I bought the outfit in green for Anna :) )
A bit later, I show her some other capris with little flower embroidery - pink again, totally cute.
"MOM! I already told you, I am NOT going to wear those pants. I do NOT wear capri pants. I am NOT going to ever wear capri pants."
She wasn't mad, she wasn't yelling - she was just definitive. I was shocked and appalled at how strongly she felt, but that's okay - she doesn't *need* to wear capri pants. When she was younger she always tried to pull the capri legs down to her ankles so I can somewhat understand where this is coming from.
We get home - I find out that she has selected 7 dresses - 1 skirt and 7 dresses. No pants, no shorts - only dresses! I think she could have just said, "I'm not ever going to wear pants."
Interesting, don't you think? ...and, not just dresses. I mean, dresses - full-on poofy dresses. Dresses that were on sale from being Easter dresses - that is what she has selected. HOW? Did I end up with ***such*** a girly girl?!?!?

BTW - also ended up with 3 outfits for Miss Anna. I just cannot resist - plus those capris with the satin belt were too cute to pass up - AND they were on sale!
Plus, lest you think I am going overboard on the clothes shopping and that I am the overly-indulgent one - I was only going to keep 4 or 5 of the outfits, she doesn't need the rest we're just barely hitting 50 these days. Sam, Huge Softie that he is, told her she could keep all of them!!! No new shoes for you, buddy! :D
